Silhouette for Piano Opus 59

Completed in February, 2022, Silhouette Op. 59 is the third in a series of individual concert piano works composed during the fall of 2021 and the spring of 2022. The work is dedicated to Schultz’s wife, pianist Tina Faigen, who gave the premiere performance opening the Schultz, Faigen & Friends III concert in Pittsburgh on March 23, 2024. Supported by a recurring left hand pattern in fifths, the colorful and expressive melodic material ranges through the soprano register of the keyboard, always pianistic and imaginative. Silhouette carries the performer and listener on a journey through seamlessly connected departures from the primary thematic material, weaving single lines above a rich harmonic pallet. This edition is edited by the composer and Tina Faigen.
