Description
Fantasy for Violin and Piano Op. 34
Completed in 2002, this one-movement work is composed in a circular form–new material emerges in contrasting sections until the conclusion, a variation of the opening section of the work. The instruments are equal partners throughout the work. The writing is distinctly in Schultz’s original style, featuring a broad palette of color and expressive melodic material in treatments that range from the delicate mingling of two melodies to the powerful and dramatic use of the full resources of the combined instruments.
