Commissioned in 1986 by the Georgia Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association. The 12 minute, single movement work emerges in a series of episodes that vary in mood and character ranging from delicate and lyrical to powerful and dramatic. The work opens with a section of energetic rhythmic intensity, and concludes with even more rhythmic vitality and power. Within, the work moves seamlessly through contrasting and complimentary sections, always pianistic, in Schultz’s colorful, contemporary style. View the first four music pages in the gallery images to the left.
