Composed in 2024, Trees – Three Songs for Soprano and Piano, was written for soprano Kelly Lynch and pianist Tina Faigen who premiered the work at the Schultz, Faigen & Friends IV concert on April 19, 2026 in Pittsburgh. The poems were chosen from the collected works of Barbara Burwell, Schultz’s mother, who often wrote verses describing her love of nature and her affinity for trees. Schultz’s setting captures the depth of meaning of each poem with music that is both colorful and dramatic, making this set a great addition to any recital program.  See the poems and first page of each song in the gallery images to the left.
